Pet Spotlight: Aleister
I remember the day that MMO Champion unveiled some of the new models datamined from Cataclysm. So many amazing new creatures, but the ones that instantly caught my eye were the brand new crocolisks. And holy crap, was that a purple and black one I spotted?!
Instant obsession.
As some of you may know, crocodiles are my favourite animals in real life, so I've always loved crocolisks in WoW. They may not be overly popular or useful as they're a tenacity pet, not to mention they're overshadowed by more skilled tanking species, but nonetheless I've always had one.
I waited anxiously during the unfolding beta period, impatient to find out where my crocolisk skin would be used and how soon I could tame it. Zones were explored, mobs were found...yet no sign of the purple croc.
I had almost lost hope when a sudden discovery sparked my excitement once more, albeit briefly. A boss from from of the Uldum dungeons, Lockmaw, used the model! However...he was level 87, therefore completely untamable unless in a future expansion.
Seeing the screenshots of Lockmaw tugged at my heart, he was so gorgeous to behold in game. I fervently prayed that another mob would show up.
Rumours flitted about of a mysterious NPC named Gorebite who apparently used the purple skin. Information was hard to find, however, as he seemed to be a quest mob summoned after a lengthy chain within the Uldum zone.
When Gorebite was finally tracked down, he was labelled as a Humanoid. I think at some point he may have changed to Beast, but was not flagged to be tamable.
With Lockmaw and Gorebite teasing me relentlessly, I continued to wait, and wait...until finally the glorious patch day came and Gorebite became tamable!
I was thrilled, ecstatic, my elation matched only by the equally amazing news of Gezzarak the Huntress.
Cataclysm had been good to me, I was able to get two gorgeous purple reptiles! Aleister was stunning to finally have by my side. I loved the devilish horns and evil glowing red eyes. He was named, of course, after the infamous Aleister Crowley. It just seemed to fit. ;)
