A very interesting discovery was made today over on the Petopia forums.
Someone found out that, with careful timing and a helpful friend, it was possible to use a Southern Barrens quest item to tame a...fire.
Yes, just a patch of fire. And it is a pet. Well, actually it's a raptor. Deep down inside. Or something.
This sort of fun, unintentional tame doesn't come around very often, so I figured I may as well give in and have a pet fire while I could before it's hotfixed (which it undoubtedly will be, as these fires cannot be targeted with a mouse).
At first I wasn't going to get one, but then the name Calcifer popped into my head and I couldn't ignore it. xD
I have to admit, for a shapeless, faceless bit of flame, this thing is surprisingly endearing. I'm finding myself quite attached to it, which is a shame since I know our partnership will be short lived. Nonetheless, I am really fond of Calcifer here and will make the most of having him while I can. :)
