Just as I said I would, today I dedicated some time to spend with Astaroth. He joined me for some archaeology ventures, and strangely enough I completed Queen Azshara's Dressing Gown which I realized matched him rather well.
With the amount of time I've spent thinking about him lately, worrying over the lack of a bond, I believe I inadvertently began to create one. Though letting him go was something that occasionally went through my head, I could never go through with it, and I knew there was something there because of that.
As I wandered around with him today, something just slowly fell into place. I can't really explain why or how a pet suddenly bonds, but I think poor Astaroth just hadn't had a chance to really warm up to me before.
Feeling better about him already, I took a trip out to Grim Batol for some screenshots, and I think that just solidifed that I really do love this dragon hound.
His personality just sort of came out today, I saw more to him than I had before, probably because I'd never really taken the time to look close enough. He's rather brazen, and once you get a grasp on his disposition he just seems to bowl you right over with it.
He totally has that 'large and in charge' thing going for him. He's not subtle, and perhaps that's why I was having trouble seeing through to him before. I was looking for little nuances and details that just didn't exist. There were no hidden facets to reveal, he was always there, and I just couldn't see it staring me in the face.
He's proud, but not vain. He likes to guard and defend things, but mostly out of a desire to display his strength. Astaroth does not like being taken lightly, and that's probably why he was so grumpy with me all this time! xD I can almost feel his smug satisfaction in knowing that I finally know him.
Can see the difference in his eyes! It's amazing. :) So glad he clicks!
